The official language of Norway is Norwegian and its currency named as Norwegian Krone. Norway has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. Norway takes the education to a high level. There are 38 number of higher education institution and 283,693 students in higher education out of which 25,691 are international students. Language of Instruction :
Most higher education programmes are taught in Norwegian language. However, you will find around 250 Master and Bachelor programmes taught in English.
Length of Academic Year : 
In Norway average length of Higher education programmes are as :
Bachelor's Programmes 3 years
Master's Programmes 2 years
Doctorate/PhD 3-4 years.
Tuition Fee In Norway : 
Students at State Universities and Universities Colleges do not pay tuition fees. State Universities and Universities Colleges may have tuition fees for a few specialised programmes. Typically these are Masters level programmes. However, students will have to pay a semester fee of NOK 300-600 (equivalent to 30-60 US Dollar) each semester. This is necessary fee in order to take an exam and to get an an official student card but  the in return grants you membership in local student welfare organization. Most of the private Universities have tuition fees for all their programmes and courses but it is also low as compared to other countries.
Admission and Applications: 
In generally the application deadline for foreign students is between December 1 to March 15. Admission and Application date may be different in different Universities and Universities colleges, so it is better to check university or college website to know exact admission date and documents required for university or college entry.

Students Living Cost in Norway

Studying in Norway will involves you living cost like food, housing, book and study material. Here you will see some living expenses for international student for one month. In big cities of Norway average cost for one month without the accommodation expenses are as follow:
Oslo: 1100-1300 Eur             Bergen: 950-1500 Eur      Tromso and Trondheim:1100 Eur.
Other cities of Norway have average monthly living cost of 750-850 Eur.
Accommodation Cost: 
In Norway accommodation cost is high, students pay around 37% of the total living on accommodation. Students generally pay a monthly average of 1550 EUR for accommodation.
Students that live alone : If you live alone you have to pay 639 EUR. In case you live with children/partner accommodation cost is around 787 EUR. However, if you live in residence hall you have to pay 564 EUR. You need to know that only 15% of the students from entire world live on campus.
Food Cost in Norway:
Students around the world that study in Norway usually pay around 240 EUR/month on food. However, you can control this cost by buying from grocery stores that offer discount.If you plane to dinner out, you will spend 35-40 EUR in an inexpensive  restaurant and 85-90 EUR in average one, for a meal of two.
Transportation Cost:
In Norway 45% of the students use public transportation and use their discounts provided by the university card and total monthly cost of transportation is between 55-75 EUR.
Study Material Cost & Social Activities :
As a student, you will need book, magazines and other research and paper stuff which cost you around 530 EUR per semester. You can reduce this cost by buying used books from libraries.For Social activities you should have to minimum of 70-80 EUR/month.
Student Residence Permit:
International Students who wants to study abroad in Norway and plan to stay in Norway more than 90 days (3 months) will need a student residence permit. For a student residence visa or permit visit The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI). It is public agency that process all applications for a student residence permit. If you need more information about Norwegian immigration regulations and rules please visit The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI).
Student Work Permit:
International students who wants to study and work in Norway will need a student residence permit. International students from countries outside the EFTA/EEA/EU may work part-time for up 20 hours per week only when work permit is granted. An application for a work permit should be accompanied by a statement from the University/College/Institution confirming that the part-time job will not affect the student study progress and a letter from the employer also needed stated that the students has a job offer. During semester breaks students are normally allowed to work full time job. Application for a work permit may be submitted to the local police station near to your University town.To locate nearest police station visit the Norwegian police website.
Work Permit For EU/EEA/EFTA Students:
International students belonging to European Union , EEA and EFTA may no need work permit to work in Norway while studying and they can work part-time  up to 20 hours per week for up to 90 days (3 months) because they are automatically given a work permit for part-time job at the time when they granted a student residence permit. The students from countries EU/EEA/EFTA do not need to show statement from institution confirming that part-time job will not affect student study progress, nor they need to show a job offer letter from employer. Students are allowed to work full time during off semester.
